About
I was born in Staffordshire, UK in 1974. I was always an observant child and expressed a great hunger and desire to learn.
At school I particularly enjoyed drama and art, the latter I wanted to explore and develop during my years at school and college. After this, I decided I wanted to make this my career.
My work encapsulates a passion for experimenting with media, by taking fairly traditional and ordinary subjects, such as urban/rural landscapes and creating a vibrant or even dreamy surrealism.
Wherever I exhibit, I pride myself on making my work accessible and affordable, especially with today`s economic difficulties.
As well as exhibiting my work in galleries, I enjoy selling work on-line.
I throroughly love what I do, and I hope this comes across in my work!

Artist Statement
My art reflects a postive stage in my life. I am always experimenting with media and effects that they can give. I use the paint very loosely, but whilst the work is freely executed, I feel I have honed everything in and created figurative elements to hold it all together.
I am hugely inspired by Impressionism and the works of JMW Turner in particular. I like to create a `feel` of the scene, rather than working out specific detial. The expressive lines and random nature of the paint allow to create a flowing and loose composition, and through gradual re-working back into the piece, there is a good balance between freedom and control.
I especially love working in a limited pallette of colours, often creating a `lens` type of painting.
My cartoons and illustrative work is rather different in comparison. My children`s illustrations are more developed, and albeit still quite freely drawn and expressive, have more parimeters to work within which is a different way of working, and for obviously a specific audience. This work is just as enjoyable nonetheless, if not more! I have had the pleasure to see some of my work in print, which is a fantastic feeling. I would love to continue working in book illustration.
My mural work is often customised to the clients` tastes and ideas. I will offer my own interpretation to certain aspects of the brief, which works very well.
I have enjoyed working on the murals very much. This gives me a chance to work on a totally different canvas and scale, and the overall effect can be extremely rewarding.
